    The “Joyful Noise” soundtrack surpassed even my expectations. Though the film’s main theme is spiritual in nature (which of course is a wonderful thing), don’t have the mentality the songs are sad and heart-breaking. If anything this CD is the complete opposite: the tracks are uplifting, upbeat and full of inspiration even the few songs that are ballads. Some of the tracks were written by none other than Dolly Parton herself and there are some amazing remakes of classic hits done here that take on a new persona of their own by the artists who perform them.

    The “Joyful Noise” soundtrack was produced by Mervyn Warren who is most famous for producing the soundtracks to the films “The Preacher’s Wife” and “Sister Act”. In “Joyful Noise” he brings together the sounds of R and B, country, inspirational and even a bit of rock and roll to make an exceptional album.

    My favorite track from this collection is the remake of the Michael Jackson classic “Man In The Mirror” done by Keke Palmer who sounds like Beyonce and Whitney Houston all rolled into one. What a marvelous voice. I also enjoyed the “Higher” medley performed by Dolly, Queen Latifah and the rest of the cast. The three tracks Dolly wrote, “He’s Everything”, “From Here To The Moon and Back” (that one will bring tears to your eyes and is very similar to her “I Will Always Love You”. She also wrote it for her real-life husband Carl Dean) and “Not Enough” are solid songs and very memorable.

    All the performances here are first-rate. Queen Latifah proves not only can she act, but boy what pipes she possesses and the younger singers are definitely going places in their musical careers. And Dolly is simply a pro and has never sounded better even at 66 years of age!

    My only problem with the soundtrack is the fact that Dolly was not given the chance to do a solo number by herself. Even the other star of the movie, Queen Latifah, had that honor, but despite that issue the “Joyful Noise” soundtrack will please all music fans no matter what genre you like.

    After its first week of release “Joyful Noise” finished at a very impresssive #4 at the box office making $13.8 million dollars which is exactly what Warner Brothers was aiming for.

    The success of the movie has led to the success of the soundtrack which is (for the first week of release) at #1 for Soundtrack Album sales and #2 for Pop album sales on Amazon. After its first week of release Billboard has also announced very impressive numbers for the CD: #1 on both the Soundtrack and Gospel Charts, #2 on the Christian and Independent Charts, #11 on Digital Albums Chart, and most important #21 on the Pop charts making this one of Dolly Parton’s highest debuts there.

    A++.

    This “Joyful Noise” soundtrack is truly filled with joyful music. The music makes the movie worth watching. This soundtrack proves that gospel music can be uplifting and soulful. Keke Palmer’s cover of Man In The Mirror is powerful and moving. Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah duet on the “He’s Everything”. This song fills me with hope. These two songs are worth the price of the CD alone. Dolly Parton sings a beautiful love song entitled From “Here To The Moon and Back”. Her voice really moves me. This soundtrack also contains groovy cuts like “Higher Medley” and “I’m Yours”. These two tracks make feel great and get me moving. These song feature Keke Palmer and a singer named Angela Govey. Angela provides soulful vocals on these two cuts.”Maybe I’m Amazed” features Keke Palmer and her co star Jeremy Jordan. This track is a smooth jam. I really like it. “In Love” is a song that contains gospel and R and B vocal stylings by a singer Kirk Franklin. This song pumps me up. Queen Latifah sings a lovely song entitled “Fix Me Jesus”. This song features excellent piano playing. Latifah’s vocals bring a tear to my eye. “That’s The Way God Planned It” features a young singer named Ivan Kelley Jr. This kid hits all the right notes. He makes me believe that all things are possible with just a little faith. I love this soundtrack.

    Excellent Movie & Soundtrack. If you like Glee, Dolly or The Queen you’ll love this. Jeremy & Keke are great too.
